Cleaning Your Tech

Household technology collects so many germs, and it's something that we don't always think about. This summer while everyone is out climbing trees in the sunshine, take the opportunity to clean some of your tech, using these useful tips.

Keyboard - Try using a vacuum cleaner to clear out any unwanted dirt and crumbs hiding between the keys. If there are tougher stains, be careful using products on the keyboard, instead take it over to the professionals to disassemble and clean it. Another top tip is to slide the sticky strip of a post-it-note through the gaps of the keys - a great way to clean hidden corners of the keyboard.

Remote Control - Everything from the neighbour's toddler's sticky fingers to your dog's wet nose have touched this device, so it's a no-brainer to clean it regularly. Take a cotton cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean around the buttons, then wipe down the rest with a lint-free cloth to remove all lurking germs.

Mobile Phone - The most commonly touched device! Wipe down the screen with a soft, micro-fibre cloth. Never use anything courser than this as it will leave marks and scratches. For stubborn stains, dampen a corner of the micro-fibre cloth with warm water and rub gently over the stain. Then, using a dry section of the cloth go back over it. If this still doesn't work, try a light solution of soap and water. Remember to avoid getting any moisture in the openings of the phone such as the microphone and speakers.
